Full course description
The sessions will provide an overview for designing and delivering a blended learning module. You will learn the how and why of “blended” and how blended/personalized learning is changing our approach towards teaching and learning. The workshop is intended to support the Centre of Life Long Learning Programmes and short courses.
The sessions will: explain how blended learning can be used to support students on and off campus, describe key approaches towards successfully delivering a blended classroom, reflect on teaching practices in order to identify one instructional challenge that can be supported through blended learning, and design and implement one blended session using one blended/personalized approach
Online forums will be used to support the scaffolding of knowledge, understanding and abilities. The teaching style will include video conferencing, discussion forums and activity based learning techniques. The focus of the teaching style will be determined through learning diagnostics, undertaken by students, which will identify learning styles needs. A cooperative learning framework is used as a means of supporting equity for both teaching and learning styles.
Professor Abdal-Hakim Hardaker @ Glenn Hardaker is Director of Centre for Life Long Learning (C3L) and Senior Professor at Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Institute of Education, Universiti of Brunei. He is also a National Teaching Fellow (Higher Education Academy, UK). Professor Hardaker has worked in universities in the United Kingdom for approximately 25 years in the area of technological innovation and learning. His research is focused on a blend of Islam, innovation and learning. Glenn is Editor of two international publications Journal for Multicultural Education (JME) and International Journal Information & Learning Technology (IJILT).
